VFW Department of Colorado & Auxiliary had the distinction of meeting the family of U.S.Army Technical Fifth Grade Clifford Strickland. Clifford Strickland was stationed on the Philippine Islands when Japanese troops landed, he was subjected to the 65-mile Bataan Death March and then held at the Cabanatuan POW Camp till his death on July 29, 1942. His body was identified and returned to Colorado on June 27, 2024. We had the honor to escort Strickland from DIA to his final resting place in Florence, Colorado. All who attended this historical event were proud and emotional.
